Why I love Kingman, Arizona

Not everyone has heard of Kingman, Arizona. The ones that have are usually passing through on the way to Las Vegas or the Grand Canyon. Some simply have heard of it because they got a speeding ticket on I-40, broke down here, or stopped to eat at the In-N-Out Burger.

I love Kingman for many reasons. For one, I grew up here. I am actually a self-admitted 4th generation Kingmanite (if that is actually a word). The strong local ties help but there are many other reasons I like it here. There is some strong and interesting history in this area. Kingman was founded in the late 1800’s in part by era of railroad and mining. Kingman has roots with the actor Andy Devine, Route 66 winds through our town and there is the historic Beale Springs which was a stopping point for covered wagons when traveling through to the west coast.

I enjoy this town for my own reasons though. I love the climate (its not too hot and it is not too cold). Our average high in the winter in January is 55 degrees. Our average summer high in July is only 95 degrees. Kingman is centrally located between Phoenix and Las Vegas. We are near the Grand Canyon and there is over 1000 miles of shoreline within 1 hours drive from Kingman. Mohave county includes Lake Mead, Mohave, Havasu and the Colorado River. There are some amazing mountains to hike and outdoor activities abound. I love raising my children in a small town but having larger city amenities nearby when needed.

If you haven’t taken the time to explore Kingman, now is a great time to look at how our town is expanding and growing. We have a moderate growth rate and there are some very exciting projects getting ready to come to our area that I think anyone will enjoy.
