Mohave County: An Overview and History
Mohave County, the second largest county in Arizona, is in the northwestern region of the state. It borders both California and Nevada to the west, and is also bordered to the north by Utah. Thus, it is a melting pot of different cultures and economic trends as well as geographical features. A large part of Mohave County’s land area is desert, but it also boasts of 1,000 miles of shoreline. When Mohave County was created in 1864, before Arizona became an official state, it originally contained portions of Nevada.
