Laughlin: Recreation

Laughlin, the popular Nevada city by the river, attracts a whopping 5 million visitors annually. It is known to many as one of Nevada?s premier gaming resort destinations, next to Las Vegas and Reno. And indeed, most people do go to Laughlin to gamble in one of the many casinos and hotels that line the river, including the popular Colorado Belle, a mock river boat that?s nearly as wide as the Colorado River itself.

The nine or so hotel/casinos and one motel in Laughlin providing over 10,000 rooms, 125,000 square feet of meeting space, 60 restaurants, two museums, a 34-lane bowling center and a variety of boutiques, spas and salons.

But there is more to Laughlin than the glitz and the gambling. Because of its great location along the Colorado River, Laughlin is also a good water recreational paradise. People can enjoy boating, kayaking, canoeing and river cruises aboard water crafts and yachts available in the area.

There are also several attractions within one or two hours from Laughlin, including the new Big Bend state park of the Colorado State Recreation area, just 1 mile from Laughlin. Other attractions are: Davis Camp, Hualapai Mountain State Park, Mc Nutt Wildnerness and Red Rocks National Conservation Area. Aside from these parks and open areas, there are also places in and near Laughlin where once can golf, hike, and hold picnics.
