Golden Valley: An Overview
The beautifully named town of Golden Valley is another census-designated place in Mohave County, Arizona. This unincorporated community, located between the Black Mountains and the Cerbat Mountains on US Highway 68, is around 20 miles from Bullhead City and 5 miles west to Kingman. It is bordered by approximately 20 miles of the historical highway Route 66 to the south. Lake Mead, Lake Mohave and the Colorado River are near the area as well.

The residents of Golden Valley are happy with its comfortable temperature all year round, as the community's elevation is around 2,700 feet. This is several degrees cooler than the desert climates of Laughlin and Bullhead City. As of the census of 2000, Golden Valley had around 4,500 people and 1,288 families in it. As of 2005, the estimated population had already ballooned to around 12,000 residents, which includes a mixture of business owners, young families, and retirees.

Indeed, much like its neighbor Dolan Springs, Golden Valley has a large number of retirees seeking refuge from the crowded cities and suburban areas. These retirees and other residents of all ages find relaxation as well as recreational activites in Golden Valley.
