Much of Golden Valley is residential areas and wide open spaces. But like its surrounding areas in Mohave County, it is located very near three prime bodies of water: Lake Mead, Lake Mohave and the Colorado River. This ?golden? proximity allows residents to enjoy water-related activities in just a few minutes' travel time. They have their pick of boating, fishing, sailing, swimming, and other kinds of frolicking.
As Golden Valley is between the beautiful Black Mountains and Cerbat mountain ranges, there are many areas that are perfect for camping, hiking, and rockhunting. There are tourist trails that let people explore the old mining communities and so-called ghost towns in the area, such as Oatman and Chloride.
Las Vegas just over 100 miles away to the north on Highway 93, and Laughlin is also nearby, in case Golden Valley residents get the urge to cast their gambling luck in one of the casinos.
